Athena Todd, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she developed a love for various sports; specifically, basketball and volleyball, and a passion for taking care of others.

While at Austin College she was awarded the Posey Leadership Scholarship and was actively involved with the Posey Leadership Institute, Pre-Medical Society, and was a Health and Wellness Peer Educator. She was also a member of the Women’s basketball team and received the Sig Lawson Award as a freshman and was consistently on the Athletic Academic Honor Roll. Athena was awarded the Stephens International Scholarship and traveled abroad to Greece during her senior JanTerm.
Upon graduation, she worked for an oil and gas company in Tulsa, OK as an assistant accountant and spent her evenings volunteering at The Bedlam Clinic for underserved and uninsured patients in the Tulsa area. This is where she learned what a Physician Assistant was and the role she could play in the medical field. She then decided to move back to Texas and work at Texoma Medical Center as a scribe in the ER and begin applying to PA school. During this time, she traveled to Haiti on a medical mission trip with one of her supervising physicians’ non-profit organizations.
Athena attended the University of Oklahoma, School of Community Medicine and graduated in 2017 with her Masters in Physician Assistant Sciences. While at OU she was the Community Outreach Chair, the first Physician Assistant Student nominated to and part of the Crimson Club, and was the Physician Assistant Chairman for the Emergency Medicine Interest Group. She received the Avery Pittman Award, which is awarded to a Physician Assistant Graduate who exhibits integrity, compassion, and loyalty.
Upon graduation from PA school, Athena worked in family medicine and then onto neurosurgery, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to be back with her favorite physicians. In January 2020 she began working in the ER at Texoma with the same doctors she scribed for. Since this time, she has found a passion for educating and training future PAs. She is a faculty member at the Austin College PA Program and has also taken on the role of Lead APP within LVL1. She is committed to providing quality healthcare to the community and delivering exceptional midlevels who work as a team to insure support to their physicians and ultimately, the patients they see.
Outside of work, Athena enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 beautiful children. She loves to run and be outside and continues playing basketball and volleyball in her free time.
